Pipeline Initiative
RAMP-Up is seeking to create a new senior level position in Science or Engineering for a woman faculty member recruited from industry, laboratories or other science and engineering venues who meets the criteria for growth in key departments. Departmental interest in this initiative generated proposals from both Science and Engineering disciplines. The Pipeline Search Award is expected to help departments build this position for women faculty in leadership roles in strategically important departments at the Institute.[More on Pipeline Search] |
Career Campaign Awards
Research has shown that mentoring is a key ingredient in facilitating career growth. Proposals from Associate and Assistant Professors which demonstrate a substantial career plan fostered by a strong mentor-mentee relationship are eligible for funding through RAMP-Up’s Career Campaign Award. The goal of this program will be to help faculty build career success and prepare for promotion to the next professional rank. [More on Awards] |
Faculty Coach Positions
The Faculty Coach positions in key departments foster significant relationships between faculty and their academic mentors, and are integral to the advancement of women in their professional careers. In the Spring of 2007, the first Faculty Coach position was negotiated with the Dean in the School of Engineering with critical input from women faculty.[See Profiles] |
Advocacy
RAMP-Up has been able to support women faculty in presenting cases for tenure or tenure review. Individual assistance on a case-by-case basis has helped women with bias avoidance concerns, health issues, and other matters which may not be addressed in the current formal tenure process. [More] |
Advancement Reform
RAMP-Up will work with a faculty team and the Provost to resolve disparities among departments in the tenure and promotion processes. The recommendations made by the Promotion &Tenure Committee within the Institute will provide global benchmarks for interpreting faculty performance goals. [More] |
